What is KeySnapped?
KeySnapped is a 3D action-adventure game made in 7 weeks by Be Agressive, 16 students from The Game Assembly in Malmö and Östra Grevies Folkhögskola. This was the first time we did a 3D project in our school’s in-house C++ game framework TGE. Our reference game for it was Death’s Door.
What I did
This project we had quite a lot of sickness so I had to work on a bunch of different things. For example:
- Export/Import from our level editor, including heightmaps to use for setting the Y-level of the characters’ feet.
- Camera system supporting follow-cam, debug free-cam, and a locked position for scripted event.
- Health and Upgrade pickups
- Scripted Event at the end of the game where a bunch of enemies are spawned and you have to fight them to get your keys back.
- Breakable Walls you can blow up after getting the projectile upgrade pickup.
- Switches connected to doors.
- Plasma Pits, which are level elements you can shoot a projectile through, if the Plasma Pit is lit then the projectile will become lit. When a lit projectile passes through unlit Plasma Pits, they light up.
- GameObject management and Component System which we hadn’t worked with in C++ before.
